He definitely pings the equivalent of strong life-based magic or energy that uses life force. On an ooc note, he does have the power to steal abilities wholesale (once it's his, it is removed from the person who originally owned the ability until he lets go). There's several conditions on it already, but to nerf it, I'll say all thieving is temporary (unless the other player has an interest otherwise).
